Obituary for Hendrik Oudshoorn

Henk passed away peacefully with daughter Judith and granddaughter Danielle by his side. For most of his life Dad was healthy and active. Although increasingly ill in the last year, he endured everything stoically and went to his Maker in peace. Henk leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Corrie (Cornelia den Haan). Loving father to Hanneke (Greg Meredith) and Judith (Luigi Falbo); beloved Opa to Jaclyn (Justin Cummings), Danielle (Jamie Kosza) and Coral (Mike Brunskill); Great Opa to Carson, Cohen and Maverick.
Survived by his brother Joop and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his parents Teunis and Gijsje (Verheul) Oudshoorn, two older brothers, and all of his 8 sisters including his beloved twin sister To.
Dad was an adventurous soul, with a deep love for music. He was always happiest playing a grand church organ or piano keyboard. His love for music, and nature was only second to that of his strong faith in God and his true appreciation for family.
He and his new bride left Holland to settle in Canada post World War II. Here they worked diligently to build a new life, home and a strong community of friends and family. We are all very proud of his achievement and labour of love in building the pipe organ at the Maranatha Christian Reformed Church. Many generations have and will continue to hear his craftmanship through the sounds of the church’s organ.
Despite a complete loss of hearing Dad learned to replay the instruments he loved. This brought all of us so much joy and his music will always be remembered fondly by family and church members alike. We will deeply miss his Christmas carol recitals and impromptu concerts.
Visitation will be held at the Central Presbyterian Church (7 Queen s Square N1S 1H4) in Cambridge on Saturday February 24, 2024 from 10:45 am until the Service time at 12 noon, with a luncheon immediately to follow. Funeral procession to the Mount View Cemetery (80 Blenheim Rd, Cambridge ON N1S 4H8) to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Rachel's Home for forgotten children are being accepted by Central Presbyterian Church and this kind gesture is greatly appreciated by the family.
Our family is grateful for the loving care Dad received from the excellent staff at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital and Innisfree House.
