Obituary for Manuel Javier Garcia

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Manuel "Manny" Javier Garcia (Sept 5, 1960 - March14, 2024) at his home surrounded by those who loved him, after a short battle with cancer. Manny joined the Peel Regional Police in 1979 as a police cadet. Over the next 35 years Manny was assigned to a number of uniformed and plainclothes roles, including the Criminal investigation Bureau, the Intelligence Unit and Uniform Patrol. In addition, held leadership roles in the Public Complaints Bureau, Neighborhood Policing Unit, and the Street Crime/Gang unit. In 2014, Manny retired from policing at the rank of Detective Sergeant. Manny then went on to a second career with the Office of the Fire Marshal of Ontario (OFM) as a fire investigator. Manny spent the next eight years traveling the province investigating the most serious of fires. Manny retired from the OFM in 2021 and worked for Origin and Cause as a fire and explosion investigator up until his passing. Manny always put family first and was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid traveler and enjoyed seeing the world with his wife and children. Manny also loved collecting police and fire badges and riding his motorcycle on warm days. A celebration of life will be held on April 28 @ 1pm at Lionhead Golf Club & Conference Centre in Brampton - everyone is welcome! Manny has touched many lives over the years due to his professions and his outgoing personality. If you have a memory to share - please bring it written out for family to read at a later time. They don't want to miss any shared memories that are meaningful to you.
