SCHIEDEL, Ruth Marrie (Witmer)

Passed away peacefully with family by her side at St Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener on Friday, December 29, 2023 in her 93rd year. Gone home to be with her Lord and Saviour.

Predeceased by the love of her life, Edward (2020), her sister Eileen (Elmer) Shantz, her brothers Ken, Dave (survived by Rose) Witmer. Survived by her children Murray (Noella), Judy (Richard) Barg, Susan (Tony), Daryl, Connie (Derek) Sharpe and grandchildren, Michael (Ashley), Andrew, Jessie, Ryan (Steph), Kaitlin (Nick), Viktoria, Ava and Mia and one great-grandson Daxton. Lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews.

Mom worked countless hours with Ed at Riverside Variety, Corner of Water and Concession Streets until the City expropriated the property to widen the bridge. She was known for making hundreds of pies for resale in the store to which people are still raving about their favourite ones today.

Mom was a woman of faith. She not only prayed for her kids every day, but many others who she didn’t even know. During these last few years after she lost the love of her life and her health started to decline it was her faith that carried her through.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Life will take place at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St. N., Cambridge on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service time. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to your local Food Bank or St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation.

Thank you to St. Mary’s Hospital ICU staff, the Paramedics for the exceptional care given to our mother and the PSW’s for their care given to help our mom as her health was declining.
